Toronto, July 23, 2009 – Waterfront Toronto, together with the Governments of Canada and Ontario and City of Toronto, officially broke ground today on Sherbourne Park, a spectacular new waterfront

Built in the 1920s, Fire Hall 30 was a working fire station until 1980. Many buildings along Commissioners have been demolished, but the Fire Hall is being preserved and we have to move it.

The massive landform will protect not only the West Don Lands, but a 210-hectare (519 acre) area, including Toronto’s financial district, from flooding.

A new stormwater management system will serve the neighbourhoods in East Bayfront, the West Don Lands and future communities north of the Keating Channel.
