Sugar High

For one weekend in March, Sugar Beach came alive with music and maple.

The first-ever Sugar Beach Sugar Shack attracted more than 10,000 people over two days (March 12-13). We were amazed at the level of interest in this new community event, and excited to introduce Sugar Beach to some visitors who had yet to visit the revitalized space.

People from all over the city, as well as visitors to Toronto, came together to hear live music, get a taste of maple taffy and enjoy the waterfront. Those of you who rode the Sugar Shack Shuttle from the Distillery District or Union Station may have been treated to a live on-board performance courtesy of several local Franco-Ontarian musicians who perform regularly at ToqueTrad in downtown Toronto.

This free community event wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors Québec Original, Redpath Sugar, PortsToronto, Cityzen Real Estate Group, the Daniels Corporation and Corus Entertainment.
Visitors joined hands for a traditional French Canadian Contra Dance at the Sugar Beach Sugar Shack.
