The Opportunity: Summer Intern, Mobility Analytics & Research
Waterfront Toronto is seeking a Summer Intern, Mobility Analytics & Research to support Waterfront Toronto’s internal teams in establishing a system for measuring visitation to waterfront destinations and consolidate mobility data around travel patterns. To be considered for this role, candidates must be currently enrolled in, or have recently completed, a post-secondary program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Explore alternative means of visitation data collection; compile a summary of available methods and vendors, and lead internal evaluation of options.
- Lead implementation process of the data collection system along the waterfront.
- Compile high volumes of mobility data from previous studies of the waterfront area; consolidate sources into one internal database.
- Analyze trends to provide a comprehensive review of mobility patterns along key waterfront corridors.
- Liaise as necessary with internal and external agencies regarding data acquisition, including consultants, vendors, City/TTC teams, partners, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a post-secondary program in Data Analytics, Informatics or related post-secondary program.
- High proficiency in data analytics (VBA, Python, GTFS, GIS, etc).
- High proficiency in data visualization and dashboard building (Tableau, Power BI, etc).
- Experience and interest in exploratory market research.
- Knowledge of basic mobility system concepts, data collection means and methods, and data privacy policies (volume counts, traffic and transit terminology, etc).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Interest and/or experience in geography and urban studies/urban planning considered an asset.
Salary:
$22.00 per hour.
Other Considerations:
During this time, Waterfront Toronto is operating in a hybrid work environment. Employees are currently required to work in our office three days per week and have the option to work remotely for the remainder of the week. This is subject to change by the Corporation.
