The Opportunity: Summer Intern, GIS
Waterfront Toronto is seeking a Summer Intern, GIS to join the Planning & Design team. This role will help advance the organization’s digital database and internal mapping and provide graphic support on various projects. To be considered for this role, candidates must be currently enrolled in, or have recently completed, a post-secondary program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, verify, and integrate digital files into the organization’s centralized GIS database system.
- Maintain and regularly update key development and public space database to support reporting and analysis.
- Coordinate data exchange across ArcGIS and other digital softwares (AutoCAD, etc).
- Produce GIS mapping and analytics including StoryMaps, Dashboard, Experience Mapping.
- Work with internal and external agencies to support data sharing and integration.
- Conduct primary data collection and fieldwork, including data entry of parks, open space, and public‑realm assets.
- Attend project team meetings with internal teams and assist in the preparation of presentations, minutes, and materials.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a post-secondary program in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning, Geography or related post-secondary program.
- High proficiency in ArcGIS.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency and knowledge in Rhinoceros considered an asset.
- Experience in field data collection considered an asset.
Salary:
$22.00 per hour.
Other Considerations:
During this time, Waterfront Toronto is operating in a hybrid work environment. Employees are currently required to work in our office three days per week and have the option to work remotely for the remainder of the week. This is subject to change by the Corporation.
