The Opportunity: Project Manager, Parks & Public Realm
Waterfront Toronto is seeking a Project Manager, Parks and Public Realm to join our Planning and Design team. The Project Manager will support the day-to-day coordination of the design of parks and public realm projects, ensuring design meets Waterfront Toronto’s objectives for Design Excellence, Accessibility, Quality of Place, and the Corporation's Sustainability Framework.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day oversight of the design and construction of assigned parks and public realm projects to ensure Waterfront Toronto’s objectives for Design Excellence, Quality of Place, and the Corporation’s Sustainability Framework are met.
- Assist in the production of all project deliverables, including design drawings, construction documents, compliance with applicable standards and regulations and environmental approvals for assigned consultants.
- Provide day-to-day management in securing and complying with all necessary approvals from regulatory authorities such as Toronto City Council, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, the Ministry of the Environment, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, and others.
- Develop project budgets for approval by the Senior Management Team, and the Board of Directors, including developing cost estimates.
- Monitor project schedules and expenditures to ensure they are completed within specified timeframes and on budget and in conformance with government funding requirements.
- Draft content for Requests for Proposals for the retention of external consultants, reviewing submissions and participating in hiring decisions, administering consultant contracts, and approving invoices for payment.
- Assist with the development of consultation and communication strategies that promote open, transparent discussions between Waterfront Toronto and stakeholders, anticipating reactions and developing recommendations, working proactively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain effective business relationships with stakeholders, government agencies and the public to foster positive partnerships and build consensus for proposed projects and/or to resolve critical issues.
- Manage necessary studies including environmental assessment, air quality testing, transportation design, accessibility, environmental site assessment, way finding and/or sustainability.
- Collaborate with the Senior Vice President, Design and the Director, Design to establish the creative direction for all projects and identifying critical issues and design and construction solutions for senior management input.
- Prepare project meeting minutes and action items lists, monitoring and following up with all staff and consultants to ensure that tasks are completed by deadlines.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Landscape Architecture, or related discipline such as Architecture, Urban Design, or Engineering.
A minimum of five years of related professional experience is preferred. - Demonstrated understanding of public realm design and construction, with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines to achieve design excellence.
- High level of critical thinking skills with the ability to apply innovative approaches to navigate design challenges in complex and multi-stakeholder projects.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders, particularly with public sector partners and Indigenous communities.
Salary:
$93,770 – $113,000 annual base salary
*This represents the expected hiring range and does not represent the full pay range for this position. The salary offered may be higher than the posted range depending on several factors such as relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

Work Location:
During this time, Waterfront Toronto is operating in a hybrid work environment. Employees are currently required to work in our office three days per week and have the option to work remotely for the remainder of the week. This is subject to change by the Corporation.
