The Opportunity: Project Accountant
Waterfront Toronto is seeking a Project Accountant to join our Program Management Office (PMO). This role will provide critical support to project and program management and accounting teams by ensuring accurate financial data management and timely processing of commitments and costs.
This position is responsible for supporting both the program/project management and accounting teams, by compiling and maintaining project data and carrying out day-to-day operational activities including the following:
Key Responsibilities:
- Expedite submission and review of project financial documentation, including invoices and payment requests.
- Verify invoice accuracy (rates, totals, compliance with contract limits) and resolve discrepancies with vendors.
- Manage electronic invoice approval workflow and ensure timely coding and entry into ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365).
- Prepare accruals, allocate overhead costs, and assist with project closeout activities.
Generate cost reports and respond to ad hoc financial queries. - Support audits and contribute to process improvements in project controls and accounting.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or Project Management.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounts payable or project accounting within a large organization.
- Strong knowledge of project/job cost accounting in an A/E/C environment.
- Proficiency in MS Excel; experience with ERP systems (Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 considered an asset).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in construction accounting or consulting is considered a strong asset.

Other Considerations:
During this time, Waterfront Toronto is operating in a hybrid work environment. Employees are currently required to work in our office three days per week and have the option to work remotely for the remainder of the week. This is subject to change by the Corporation.
