Construction Notice #62: Port Lands Flood Protection & Lake Shore Boulevard East Projects
Revised Date: Closure of Don Valley Parkway On-Ramp from Lake Shore Boulevard East from Wednesday, October 15 to Sunday, October 26
The Don Valley Parkway on-ramp at Lake Shore Boulevard East and Don Roadway will be closed starting on October 15 for realignment that will allow the new Lake Shore Boulevard and the Lake Shore Bridge to fully open. Detours will be in place: For westbound traffic on Lake Shore, access to the northbound DVP will be via the Queen Street on-ramp and Carlaw Avenue. For southbound traffic on the DVP, access will be maintained through the off-ramp.

Above: a map showing the location of the closure of the on-ramp and the available detour route along Carlaw Avenue
Why are we closing this on-ramp?
To complete construction work on the northeast curb of the ramp, realigning it to the newly constructed Lake Shore Boulevard and bridge, many possible options were examined. A short-term continuous closure was determined to be the safest, fastest, and least disruptive way to complete this work.
The Lake Shore Boulevard East Project is expected to reach substantial completion by the end of 2025. At the completion of this project, Lake Shore Boulevard will be three lanes in each direction with new landscaping and pedestrian and cycling facilities.
What to expect starting Wednesday, October 15:
-The DVP on-ramp along Lake Shore Boulevard East by Don Roadway will be closed. Access to the DVP going northbound will be available via the Queen Street on-ramp.
-All lane closures will be marked with traffic barrels or fencing.
-Paid-duty officers will be at key intersections during the closure to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible.
-Street parking on the northbound side of Carlaw Avenue will be temporarily unavailable to help keep traffic moving safely and efficiently during the detour. A friendly tow service will be used to relocate vehicles parked along the detour routes during the closure (JP Towing Service & Storage Ltd. 416.203.9300).
Waterfront Toronto and the City of Toronto continue to work together to minimize disruption and avoid any scheduling conflicts between a variety of works underway to keep Toronto's road networks running smoothly. Our Lake Shore Boulevard East project team is coordinating with the City of Toronto as their crews undertake critical state-of-good-repair work to rehabilitate four bridges and elevated roads near Eastern Avenue and Adelaide Street East, including the southbound Don Valley Parkway off-ramp to Richmond Street.
