environment and sustainability

By employing global best practices and made-in-Toronto solutions, the city’s new waterfront communities will protect and enhance our natural environment and will ultimately establish themselves as models for low-carbon and resilient urban development.

the resilience and innovation framework

Our Resilience and Innovation Framework for Sustainability is a response to the effects of greenhouse gases (GHG) on our climate. Waterfront Toronto recognizes that we can and should act now to demonstrate leadership by creating and communicating solutions that help mitigate climate change.  The strategies we develop  through this framework will have long lasting benefits for many aspects of life in Toronto. As always, our goal is to create vibrant and sustainable places for people living, working and playing on the waterfront --— that’s why we’ve placed people at the centre of our new Innovation and Resilience Framework. integrated annual report

In July 2021, Waterfront Toronto released its 2020-21 Integrated Annual Report. The report highlights our revitalization efforts over the past year and provides an update on how our projects are connecting the city with the water.

The theme of this year's integrated report is Connecting the Waterfront. Connecting sustainability with complete communities and strong economy is vital in creating a thriving waterfront and city that can be enjoyed for generations. In this report, we emphasize how our revitalization work builds many forms of connections that characterize thriving cities, including physical, social, environmental, economic as well as intangible connections.
